Non-Profit

The Hugo Grotius gGmbH is a non-profit society for the advancement of legal sciences in Bremen, Germany and serves public-benefit purposes through "1. the advancement of science and research" according to Section 52 (1) and (2) of the German Fiscal Code (Abgabenordnung).

It operates through its institutions, i.e. the Institute for the law of the Sea and International Marine Environmental Law (ISRIM) and the Institute for IT, Media and Intellectual Property Law (MLS LEGAL). The Institutes work under the freedom of science, research and teaching according to Article 5 (3) and Article 19 (3) of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany (Deutsche Grundgesetz) and respect the Recommendations of the Commission on Professional Self Regulation in Science (DFG). 

The Hugo Grotius gGmbH is registered at the tax office in Bremen (Finanzamt Bremen) with tax number 60 145 13831.
